INVENTION PATENTING SERVICE

Invention (useful model) is a result of human intellectual activity in certain technological sphere.
Objects of invention (useful model) may include:
- products (device, compound, microorganism strain, plant and animal cell culture, etc.);
- methods;
- use of previously known product or method for a new purpose.
In its turn, an invention and a useful model must meet patentability requirements, in particular:
- invention: novelty, inventive level, industrial applicability;
- useful model: novelty and industrial applicability.
To receive legal protection, an invention (useful model) must be registered with the Patent Office.
Duration of patent:
- for an invention: 20 years from the application filing date;
- for a useful model: 10 years from the application filing date.
To procure a patent of Ukraine for an invention or a useful model, an application must be filed with the Patent Office of Ukraine (Ukrpatent). The application includes a set of duly executed documents. To procure patent in any foreign country, an applicant must file an application with the patent office of a specific country or file an international application.
